The Celebration of the New Year

Western people, such as Europe and America, usually celebrate the New Year becomes a custom that always be celebrated every year. They like going to the square town, the beach and the hotel where people are crowded to hold the ceremony. It does not need much preparation to celebration this moment. One trumpet and some fireworks with colored flame will make the ceremony become gorgeous.

People usually celebrate the New Year with their couple. They go in pair and have some fun. Other likes to celebrate the New Year with their relatives and friends. They make the fire and bake some food. In short, they spend that night with someone that they love or have special meaning in their life.

The summit of the ceremony is when the people count from 10 to 1 at the same time before the clock is ringing at 12:00 a.m. It is the beginning of the new day in the New Year. The blow the trumpets loudly and explode the fireworks into the sky. That night becomes wonderful with the colored flame in the sky and the people keep dancing and shouting the words “Happy New Year, Happy New Year.”

In addition, some people use this moment to pray to the God. They have their own wishes in the becoming year. They hope that they will have a better living than before. Some hope for their success in career and other hope that they will find their match soon.

American English VS British English

Language shapes the way we think and determines what we can think about. We live in a world where has many languages are using in our daily activities. English language is an international language and it is very important for us to learn about it. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast the differences between American English and British English. The three main differences are historical backgrounds, the locations, and grammar.

The most notable difference between these two styles of English language is their historical backgrounds. This divergence between American English and British English once caused George Bernard Shaw to say that the United States and United Kingdom are "two countries divided by a common language". It is increasing worldwide communication through radio, television, the Internet and globalization has reduced to use the regional language. Nevertheless, spoken American English and British English are generally clearly, there are enough differences to cause occasional misunderstandings or at times embarrassment; for example, some words that are quite innocent in one dialect may be considered vulgar in the other.

Comparing both styles of English language we notice another differences. There are many locations which use this language commonly. Regional dialects in the United States are used by Northern, Southern, Midland, Western, Southern Appalachia and New York. Dialects of British English are used by isolated populations such as United Kingdom, England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
  

Yet another difference between these two styles of English language is the grammar. In American English collective nouns are usually singular in construction. American English may use plural pronouns, however, in agreement with collective nouns; for example, All Time Low is a well-known band. In British English, collective nouns can take either singular (formal agreement) or plural (notional agreement) verb forms, according to whether the emphasis is on the body as a whole or on the individual members respectively; for example, All Time Low are a well-known band. Proper nouns that are plural in form take a plural verb in both American English and British English; for example, The Saints are the champions. However, the largest difference is probably that of the choice of vocabulary and pronunciation.

Here are the main three differences between styles of American English and British English. As we can see it comes down to a personal choice, based on the dialect of each person has, the skill and the custom that make she/he uses the style of English language. Therefore it is important that you consider your abilities and choose the best style of English language for your convenience and lifestyle.

Urak Arik Egg

Most people consume egg to be eaten because it is cooked easily. People can make it depends on their mood like boiled egg and omelet. For example, students who live in boarding house like to cook a simple dish and they choose egg to be the foodstuff.

Many people bored with those ways to cook egg. Now, people can cook it with another way, random stir. It is named Urak-Arik Egg. The name is very unique like the shape of it. Let’s try to make it!

There are several ingredients to make it; they are egg, tomato, soy sauce, salt, and oil. All the ingredients are bought easily. If you want, just add another foodstuff like tofu, red onion, and chili. The materials are frying pan, gas stove, knife, plate, spoon, and casserole spoon.

            The first step to make it turn gas stove on and heat the oil. Second, put egg into frying pan and add a little salt, stir randomly. Next, dice the tomato, tofu, red onion, and put them into the frying pan. After that, pour so sauce and chili, toss well.

            People can serve it with rice and it is made easily. Do not waste much time and money. People can enjoy with their own food. Enjoy it!

About Myself

My name is Vinny Octaviani. I was born on October 7^th 1991. I am from Bukittinggi, but now I stay in my cousin’s house in Belimbing, Padang. I am a shy girl and quiet person. I am quiet exclusive, so do not like talking to someone if it is not important. I am a good joker, I can people laugh and tell tons of jokes. My curriculum vitae: first I graduated from Elementary School 04 Garegeh. Next I graduated from Junior High School 5 in Koto Selayan. After that I graduated from Senior High School 3 in Aur. Now, I am a student in Universitas Negeri Padang 2^nd semester, English Department, Language and Art Faculty. I think that in this semester I have to study hard because I feel the lessons more difficult than before.

I have a family whom the members are quiet, not talk too much. I have one brother and one sister. My older brother’s name is Arfian Ramdi, he works in Jakarta. My sister’s name is Devianty Noralita and now she works in Kubang Putih, Bukittinggi. My father works in SMK N 1 Bukittinggi. Honestly, I really want to still live in Bukittinggi because I think Bukittinggi is a nice city. It has a cold weather and I like the neighborhood.

My hobbies are listening to the music, singing and playing badminton. My favorite band is All Time Low. I like listening to the music especially western songs because it helps me to add my vocabulary and knowledge. While I was listening to the music, I tried to write the lyric. After that, I will check with Google lyric and find the difficult words. If I finished find all of the meanings, then I would like to sing the song. That is my way to understand the English language. While I studying, I heard the songs.

So, be close with me and we are going to spend the time together such as study or hang out. I want to be a kind person and a nice girl. Welcome to my world, friends.

My House In The Future

House is a place that is very important in human life. It can protect us from the bad things in outside such as; rain, hot, wild animal and etc. It is a place for my family sleep, talk together and take a rest.

I want to live in a small house with beautiful view and unique architect. Not really big because I like something simple. Then I will put some flowers in the small garden in front of my house colorfully. I want to see my flowers grow up when the summer come and I will stand in the wood bridge stretch on the pool which has many fish. I will give them some foods and I will see two kids are sitting on the grass. They are playing clap hands and laughing together.

  

My dream house is made from unique wood, sparkle, and smooth, so that it is easy to clean. My house has brown roof. My house is far from the street. I do not want to hear some noisy from street, and so that my kids study full concentration.

My livingroom has two big soffas and two small soffas. In the middle of them, there is a small glass table. Then my family will enjoy the free time to watch TV in the family room. They will find out many foods in the diningroom. Between the living room and the dining room are separated with curtain. I will put some pictures in my livingroom and family room, because I like something different and unique. In the right side of my house, there is a garage for a car and a scooter matic. I want to have four bicycles because my family like to spend the end of afternoon together. My house has three bedrooms and in every bedroom have one bathroom.

  

I want my house in the future safety and the neighborhood is convenient. I want to enjoy my life with happy family and the lovely house.

My Parents

Everyone knows that we cannot live without the important people in our life. Beside we love them, we also think that they are our motivators. We will do the best in our life to make them proud of us and it is sure make them feel happy. Even though we cannot catch the success, yet they will appreciate what we have done.

A person whom very important in my life is my mother. She keeps me up from the bad thing and gives me a meaning of love. She never gives up to build “the lovely’s feeling” in our heart. While I was remembering her, I felt that I could not make her proud of me yet.

My mother is everything to me. She is the best person that I have ever had. She is my wonder woman in every single time. I never imagine that she would leave me faster. I love my mother because she taught me what life was all about. She gave me support while I was feeling down.

I realized that not only my mother whom support me, but my father too. I want to see his smile when he knew that I made something well. He always encourages me to keep strong and finish the college.

When the holiday came, I usually back home to my hometown in Bukittinggi. I really do miss my bedroom and meet my father and my sister. I will do the best for you, my father.

Jack Barakat

My idol is Jack Bassam Barakat. He is a guitarist and backing vocalist for pop-punk Baltimore band, All Time Low. He was born on June, 18^th 1988 in Lebanon. He speaks American language. He has an amazing personality. His religion is moeslim. He is adorable, funny, and sweet.

 He is amazing because he plays guitar energetically. He is talented because he can play guitar very well, piano, drum, and singing. He is funny because he can tell tons of jokes and makes people laugh. He is thin and lanky. He has two piercings in his ears and tattoos in his arms. He has a pointed nose because he got it from his father who is Lebanese.

He has one brother and one sister. His older sister’s name is May Barakat and his younger brother’s name is Joe Barakat. He has a lovely mother who gives him support to play guitar since he was in high school, Joyce Barakat.

He styles his hair however he wants and he can make it sexy in any way he chooses. Unlike most men, he takes extra care in his appearance, not that he has to try. He could pull off anything from tight jeans to booty shorts. He even designs shirts and other things for his clothing line with Glamour Kills and he has clothing line by himself named JAGK.

He always makes me feel better and not even my friends can do that. He always makes me laugh and smile no matter how sad I am. I do not even know what to write, I just love him so much.
